Zunica Powers 'Cats to Victory
TROY, NY - Brad Zunica hit three home runs as the Tri-City ValleyCats defeated the visiting Ottawa Titans tonight at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The two-time Frontier League All-Star blasted two grand slams and drove in nine runs in the 12-3 win.
Homers keyed the scoring for both teams as they opened a three-game series. In addition to Zunica, Carson McCusker and Austin Elder also cleared the fence for the 'Cats, which had every starter register a hit. The McCusker blast went 463 feet and left "The Joe" in its entirety.
Ottawa scored its three runs via a first inning home run by A.J. Wright. Following the early blast, ValleyCats starter Joey Gonzalez permitted just two hits across his final five innings of work. The righty fanned seven Titans across 5.1 innings to earn the victory.
