ValleyCats Cap Road Trip with 12-5 Loss
PONOMA, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats concluded a ten-game road trip with a 12-5 loss at the Boulders on Sunday afternoon.
Third baseman Pavin Parks went 2-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and a run scored to lead the ValleyCats, battling for a Frontier League playoff berth. Tri-City (49-40) on a five-game slide, enters the final week of the regular season two games out of the third and final playoff spot.
The Boulders (51-38), now winners of six in-a-row, scored five runs in the fifth to break open what was a 5-4 contest. First baseman Chris Kwitzer and third baseman Jake McKenzie each had three hits and three RBI to help complete the sweep of the three-game weekend series.
The 'Cats, which went 4-6 on their longest road trip of the summer, return home on Tuesday to host the Sussex County Miners at 6:30 pm. The night begins a six-game homestand that closes the regular season.
