ValleyCats Comeback to Complete Sweep of Jackals

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats erased a 4-1 deficit to defeat the visiting New Jersey Jackals 6-4 on Sunday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

Down by three in the fifth, the 'Cats rallied to knot the contest. Cito Culver hit a two-run homer and Brad Zunica doubled home Denis Phipps to account for the three runs.

In the sixth, catcher Austin Elder cleared the fence in right to put the ValleyCats ahead for good. The backstop added an insurance run for Tri-City in bottom of the eighth, singling in Jesus Lujano from second base.

Relievers Adam Hofacket and Trey Cochran-Gill tossed four innings of one-hit relief to perseve the win.

Elder finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Phipps, the Frontier League leader in home runs (26) and RBI (73), went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
