Jackals Take Weekend Series Opener
LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The Tri-City ValleyCats arrived at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey on Friday looking to bounce back from the previous day's loss to the Boulders as the 'Cats kicked off a three-game set with the New Jersey Jackals to wrap up the first half of the season and enter the All-Star Break.
The Jackals would take a 4-run lead in the first inning on a defensive miscue, a triple, and a sacrifice fly.
The ValleyCats would claw their way back starting almost immediately after New Jersey's 4-run first, when first baseman and two-time Frontier League All-Star Brad Zunica kickstarted the second inning by depositing a ball over the left field wall and off of his face on New Jersey's video board. The 'Cats would eventually make it a 4-3 game in the third, capitalizing on a bases loaded situation, but the four-run first would be too much for the 'Cats to overcome.
The Jackals would keep adding throughout the night, tallying six additional runs in the final six innings, with every Jackals batter reaching safely at least once in Friday's contest.
Tri-City and New Jersey continue their weekend series tomorrow evening. First pitch is slated for 6:05 pm.
Following the All-Star break, the 'Cats return to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on July 22nd as they welcome the Gateway Grizzlies to The Joe. The 22nd is also Yankee Trails & Girl Scout Night, presented by Yankee Trails. First pitch is scheduled for 7PM.
