LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The ValleyCats entered Sunday's matinee in danger of being swept by their division rivals the New Jersey Jackals, and falling one game below .500 entering the All-Star break.

The 'Cats sent Jose Cruz to the mound in the weekend finale. Cruz would throw 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits. He would depart in the fifth with a two-run lead, thanks to leadoff back-to-back home runs from Frontier League All-Stars Pavin Parks and Brantley Bell in the first, and veteran slugger Denis Phipps in the top of the third.

The 'Cats would squander a five-run lead and enter the bottom of the ninth inning tied at 6. After a strikeout to start the inning, Trey Cochran-Gill would surrender two singles, with both runners advancing on a wild pitch. The winning run would cross the plate for the Jackals on an error charged to second baseman Jace Mercer, securing the Jackals' sweep entering the All-Star break.

The ValleyCats will be represented at the 2022 Frontier League All-Star Game, presented by The Coury Firm, in Washington, PA by OF Brantley Bell, SS Pavin Parks, and 1B Brad Zunica.
