Miners Shutout 'Cats 1-0

TROY, NY - In a game with playoff implications, the visiting Sussex County Miners shutout the Tri-City ValleyCats 1-0 on Thursday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

The lone run of the pitchers' duel came with two outs in the sixth, on a broken-bat RBI single by first baseman Yanio Perez. Perez went 2-for-4 to pace the Miners.

Second baseman Brantley Bell, who was announced as the Frontier League MVP earlier today, went 2-for-4 to lead Tri-City.

The teams combined for only 13 hits, while pitchers totaled 22 strikeouts, 11 apiece.

Tri-City continues its six-game homestand on Friday, hosting the Empire State Greys at 7:00 pm.

It will be a Bobblehead Bonanza during Early Oktoberfest. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive their choice of one bobblehead.  The list of options fans can chose from includes: Ian Anderson, Enrique Hernandez, Joe Musgrove, Jorge Posada, and Ron Guidry, while supplies last of each.
