‘Cats One-Up Yesterday’s Slugfest with 17-Run Rout of Jackals

TROY, NY - One night after scoring 14 runs, a then-season high at home this year, the Tri-City ValleyCats (43-28) defeated the New Jersey Jackals (22-50) 17-5 on Wednesday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

Tri-City set the tone early with a five-run first against Alex Barker. David Glancy drove in two with a double. Demias Jimerson, Chris Burgess, and Javeyan Williams each picked up RBI singles.

New Jersey got on the board in the fourth. Easton Klein walked Issac Bellony and Gilberto Torres was hit by a pitch. Jimmy Costin walked to load the bases. Patrick Sanchez delivered an RBI fielder’s choice to cut the deficit to 5-1.

Barker walked Josh Leslie in the bottom of the fourth. Cam Jones laid down a sac bunt, and Leslie advanced to second. Leslie stole third, and came around on a sac fly from Amani Larry to make it a 6-1 game.

Walters went to third on a fly out from Burgess and crossed the plate on a sac fly from Williams to make it a 9-1 contest.

Bellony singled and Torres doubled him to third in the bottom of the sixth. Sam Angulo lifted a sac fly. Sanchez collected his second RBI with a single to knock in Torres and trim the deficit to 9-3.
