ValleyCats Host Governor Kathy Hochul, Drop Second to Ottawa, 10-7

The Tri-City ValleyCats tried to claw back late with four runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth, but came up short against the Ottawa Titans, 10-7, on Saturday, June 6 at The Joe in front of 1,572 fans, including Kathy Hochul, the 57th Governor of New York State.

The Governor stayed for about half of the game and saw Ian Walters single in Dylan Broderick in the bottom of the first and Parker Coddou lift his second home run of the season out to left in the bottom of the second.

Broderick pushed his hitting streak to 13 games with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. He ended up walking twice and scoring three runs on the night. Coddou added his first triple of the season - the ValleyCats' (7-17) league-leading 11th three-bagger - in the bottom of the eighth and scored on a Broderick groundout.

Luis Misla, Brayhans Barreto, and Logan Jones pitched for Tri-City as Jones finished with 3.1 innings of one-run relief with two hits, four walks, and three strikeouts.

Ottawa (14-11) was paced by a 3-for-6 night for AJ Wright as he scored twice and drove in one. The Titans also got a two-run homer by Daniel McElveny, a three-run shot by Jackie Urbaez in the fifth, and a pinch-hit solo homer by Myles Smith in the eighth.

Ky Hampton went five innings in the start for the Titans, giving up three runs, walking two, and striking out two.

The teams finish up the three-game series tomorrow, June 7, on SundayFunday at The Joe presented by Highmark BSNENY with a pre-game catch on the field and a post-game run around the bases for children of all ages. It is also Albany County Night, presented by the Office of the County Executive.
