ValleyCats just short in loss in home opener, 4-3, to Quebec

The Tri-City ValleyCats (2-5) came up just short in the 2026 home opener, falling to Quebec, 4-3, on Friday, May 15 in front of 2,844.

David Glancy homered deep to left in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Aaron Whitley following a solo Amai Larry (2-for-5) homer in the bottom of the sixth. Whitley stayed hot to start the season with a 2-for-2 night with two walks.

Tri-City starter Austin Dill (0-1) struck out two, walked two, and allowed three runs and four hits in his first start of the season. Mason Martinez struck out one in 2.1 innings of relief before Logan Jones let up an unearned run in 1.2 innings of work with a strikeout. Arlo Marynczak pitched a scoreless ninth.

David Mendham (2-for-3, 2R) had a two-run homer in the top of the third for Quebec (4-3). Jordan Smith was 3-for-3 for the visitors.

Francis Ferguson (1-1) kept the Tri-City offense - averaging almost six runs a game coming into the night - in check through the first five innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out two.

The ValleyCats and Capitales play again tomorrow, Saturday, May 16 on Princess & Pirate Night at The Joe with a 6:30 scheduled first pitch.
