ValleyCats fall to Quebec, 6-4

Despite loading the bases in the bottom of the ninth, the Tri-City ValleyCats (2-6) lost to Quebec, 6-4, in front of 1,544 fans on Saturday, May 16.

Starting pitcher Brayhans Barreto threw five innings of hitless ball for the ValleyCats as he walked five, but struck out two. Nate Nabholz (0-1) added a hitless sixth before a six-run Quebec rally in the top of the seventh. Kyle Crowl did much of the damage with a three-run home run. Ben Smith came in and held the Capitales scoreless in two innings of two-hit relief, striking out three.

Tri-City had 11 hits on the night, including Dylan Broderick's 401-foot homer to right that left the bat at 102 mph in the bottom of the fifth. Broderick added a double and scored in the ninth for a 2-for-5 night. David Glancy homered for the third-straight game with a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh. Kai Moody was 2-for-5 with a triple. Cooper Hext's sac fly in the bottom of the second scored Brayden Jobert. Even with the scoring, the ValleyCats stranded 11 on base.

Emile Boies went five innings for Quebec (5-3), allowing seven hits, but only two runs, before the bullpen took over. Conner Floyd earned the save for the visitors.

The ValleyCats host the series finale with Quebec tomorrow on the first Highmark BSNENY Sunday Funday of the 2026 season, which happens to fall on Yankee Trails' Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Night.
