ValleyCats fall to Quebec, 4-1
The Tri-City ValleyCats (2-7) lost to the visiting Quebec Capitales (6-3), 4-1, in front of 2,537 fans on Sunday, May 16.
RJ Stinson (2-for-3) hit his first double of the season for the ValleyCats and drove in Kai Moody with a solid single in the bottom of the sixth.
Aidan Kelly (0-1, 3.38 ERA) went four innings to start for Tri-City and struck out five, walked three, and gave up three hits and two runs. Luis Misla weathered a couple of tight spots in three innings of relief, allowing just one run while striking out one. Arlo Marynczak struck out one over two innings of relief, which was his third appearance of the season.
Torin Montgomery was 2-for-4 for Quebec with a pair of singles as he scored once and drove in one. Arturo De Freitas was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Adam Shoemaker (1-0) struck out seven and scattered four hits over his five innings for Quebec, which travels next to Brockton.
Tri-City is set to break its five-game losing skid on Mental Health Awareness Night, presented by the New York State Department of Mental Health, and Bark in the Park Night, presented by Benson's Pet Supplies, at The Joe on Tuesday, May 19. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., Corgi Racin' is set for right around 6 p.m., and first pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. Fans will also get a commemorative set of baseball cards featuring Willie the Chocolate Labrador (infielder Josh Leslie), Candy the Yorkshire Terrier (outfielder David Glancy), Marly the Labrador Retriever (pitcher Austin Dill), and Oakley the Labradoodle (pitcher Stephen Still).
