ValleyCats Drop Series Opener at Mississippi
The Tri-City ValleyCats (3-11) dropped the first game of a six-game road trip at Mississippi (7-9), 6-3, on Memorial Day, May 25.
Jake Reinisch upped his hit streak to five games with an RBI single in the top of the sixth for Tri-City.
Starting pitcher Wes Albert and immediate reliever Aidan Kelly combined for three innings in the start allowing two hits, two walks, three runs, and striking out four. Mason Martinez came in for four innings of three-run relief striking out one. Nate Nabholz struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth.
Mississippi's Travis Holt and Jack Holman were both 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored apiece. Art Joven allowed just one run on three hits over five innings in the start with two strike outs and four walks.
Tri-City has the day off tomorrow, but plays the Mud Monsters again on Wednesday with a first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m. on Wednesday.
